Today, I got the pathology results back from the biopsies they took during my surgery. They reported clean margins and have told me that, as of today, I am NED. 🎉
In my cancer support group, we call this “starting our dance with NED.” 70% of people with my particular type of cancer metastases will have a recurrence in their lifetime, so I am not technically “cured,” but I am beginning my dance where I will be ever vigilant for the rest of my days, with scans every 3 months.
I am not being pessimistic…just realistic. But don’t be fooled, I am definitely celebrating today. 🥳
