Surgery went well at MSK in NYC. I was there for 3 days and 2 nights - slept well both nights. The point of this particular surgery was to cut out more cancer and the surgeon did assure me "he got it all" - however, that means he got all that he could see in one particular area. My next step after healing for a little while, will be to go back on chemo and try to "snuff out" anything remaining.
The only bad thing from my surgery is that both the intubation and the actual procedure aggravated my larynx, and specifically my right vocal cord which is currently not functioning. So, I've lost my voice...but in a MAJOR way. I will go back to MSK in 2 weeks for follow-up appointments, and will also meet with a speech pathologist who is going to give me an injection to help aide the healing process.
